So, is it really possible to grow Nepenthes in the same space as a Venus flytrap? Can bog sundews and pings share a terrarium? Our answer: absolutely.
•
Today Drew walks us through two different examples of carnivorous plants that “shouldn’t” grow together but are successfully growing together. From bogs of Northern California to our own in-house terrarium build, we break down water tables, substrates, and variables to consider. But the biggest takeaway? Have fun with it. Growing plants should be enjoyable, a fun challenge, a space for discovery and innovation, and an opportunity to learn just how resilient these plants can really be.

That’s a wrap, Dallas! It was so great getting to see familiar faces and introduce new ones to their first carnivorous plant. Next stop: Atlanta! ✈️ See y’all in December.

Today, we are talking about the bladderwort, or Utricularia. This is an underrated, absolutely lovely carnivorous plant that even grows right here in central Texas! The next time you float the San Marcos river, keep an out for a floating, mossy-looking plant that is quietly sucking up tiny creatures into their “bladders”at crazy speeds and then digesting them for nitrogen. 😄
