Christian Family Church is a growing congregation on Loop 1604, and their San Antonio campus is their first in the U.S. (the movement has deep roots in South Africa). Right now their 500-seat sanctuary means worshipping in shifts.

So we’re designing a new 1,000-seat worship center to bring everyone together under one roof. The conceptual design centers on the new 40,000 s.f. worship center featuring administrative offices, support spaces, and a ground floor lobby designed to double as an event space for large gatherings.

We’re proud to be part of what’s next for this community.

Looking back on a project we’re still proud of: the University of Texas Elementary School.

UT Elementary — the first university-sponsored charter school in Texas — spent nearly nine years operating out of portable buildings before we partnered with them to design a permanent campus built around their demonstration teaching model.

Swipe to learn more about this project!

The program included administrative offices, a cafeteria, a gym, a library, and an outdoor teaching area, all designed for flexibility. A pre-engineered superstructure creates a clean, welcoming public face, with a northern clerestory lighting the main multipurpose space and primary drop-off area.

The cafeteria supports the Garden to Table program after hours, transforming into a cooking classroom where children and parents learn to garden and prepare healthy meals together.

The multipurpose design allows the cafeteria and auditorium to open up into the gymnasium through a durable operable partition. This partition, clad in high-impact magnetic and markerboard laminate, serves as a versatile teaching wall—ideal for writing, pinning up materials, and projection.

The gym floor features sustainable recycled rubber, providing additional acoustic control. Integrated technology further enhances flexibility, supporting a range of activities and teaching opportunities.

In the library, custom amphitheater-style seating with wood fronts and carpet tile insets provides a durable reading corner for students, while a CNC-cut, powder-coated steel world map adds a lasting educational feature.

The World Cup may be over, but we weren't ready to give up the competitive spirit! So we hosted our own "Ocho Cup" — studios versus studios, bragging rights on the line.

From Telestrations and Funny Bones to spaghetti towers that may or may not be up to code...the Ocho Cup had it all!

Congrats to this year's champions! Until next year!

Every project starts with a conversation. This one started with a community!

Creative Action has been empowering Austin youth and families through arts-based education since 1997. When they outgrew their space and secured funding for a new facility, they chose Mueller Development for its central accessibility and brought Studio8 on to design a place worthy of their mission.

The 25,000 s.f. result is vibrant, welcoming, and entirely community-driven. Students and staff shaped the design from the start through interactive visioning charrettes, and their voices are visible in every corner: flexible studio spaces, colorful murals, outdoor performance areas, and a central corridor designed to make you slow down and look around.

Looking forward to watching this space come to life. Read more about this project at the link in our bio.

Make Ready Market featured in Arts Culture Fun!

We're proud to be featured talking about Make Ready Market, where our Principal and San Antonio Director Megan Moshier discusses how we transformed a former Cavender Cadillac "make-ready" garage in River North into a vibrant, multi-concept dining destination.

The history is everywhere if you know where to look: original paint left on structural columns, custom booth stitching inspired by vintage Cadillac seats, and headlight-inspired sconces in the bathrooms. As Megan Moshier puts it, the goal was to preserve the building's story while giving each culinary tenant room to shine.

We're honored to be featured in Construction Today!

Construction Today spoke with our co-founding Principal and CEO Lisa Cuddy about how Studio8 was built and the foundation of trust that has kept it growing. Lisa has been the heartbeat of this firm since 2003, and her belief that great design starts with truly understanding people runs through everything Studio8 does.

From our roots in Austin to growing our presence in San Antonio and beyond, Studio8 has always believed that great design starts with great relationships, and this article tells that story beautifully.

Thank you to Construction Today for shining a light on our team, our work, and what drives us forward.

This staircase isn't just a way to get from one floor to the next.

When designing the Texas Mutual Insurance headquarters, we looked to the company's past for inspiration, specifically the communal energy of their 1980s-era home. The result is a translucent-paneled staircase and central atrium that anchor a 1.2-mile indoor walking loop, woven throughout the building to encourage movement, chance encounters, and the kind of conversations that don't happen in a conference room.
