We are pleased to announce the completed restoration of our antique farm bell or “Liberty Bell” as we call it. Manufactured by The C.S. Bell Company of Hillsboro Ohio sometime in the late nineteenth century, it features a prominent horseshoe style mount and classic 16inch rounded gold housing.
The bell was donated to us back in 2017 and remained in storage until this year when we had the bell sandblasted and powder coated to a stunning deep “Prismatic Spanish Gold” by Spartan Custom Coatings of Mogadore Ohio.
The cast iron colonial style post did not originally come with the bell and thanks to Glas Ornamental Metals of Akron Ohio we were able to craft a truly one off custom post to mount the bell atop of. The bell itself is extremely heavy with the entire structure being cemented into the ground. It features a weighted pull chain and fully functional ringer (see video)
This project took months to finally come together, we wished to have it installed by America 250 but ran out of time. However we are still pleased to have it in time for our centennial celebration in 2027. We can’t wait to share several other restoration projects already in the works for next year!
