Bugg You’ve known us as Gubba, but now we are Bugg. Premium products for people who live in the garden. “Gubba” is an aboriginal word meaning “good”.

Back in 1988, kiwi owner David Graves, developed a Garden Bag that could stand open by itself. Today that small business has grown into an online garden store featuring a huge range of products. We are constantly adding more items to the site. Hopefully it all helps you make your world greener! We welcome customer feedback so if you have comments, queries or inventive uses of any Gubba product, please contact us.

November is not the month to go quiet on your plants. Everything is growing like it’s being paid to, and all that growth needs fuel. A liquid feed every couple of weeks is the difference between tomatoes that sulk and tomatoes that show off.

Our pick for the job is the range. Organic Plant Food+ for the hungry ones, Healthy Soil+ for the life beneath the surface, and EM1 Concentrate if you like to mix your own. All made in NZ, all teeming with the good microbes your soil has been waiting for.

Fill the can. Do the rounds. Repeat in a fortnight. Your plants will remember.

The Sunday Dirt October Edition: Rose petals, a great-aunt and a jar. Pamela Anderson puts dried rose petals in her pickles, the recipe is her great-aunt Vie’s, and the cucumbers come out of her own garden. Rose petal or not, the method holds. Sow the right cucumber, give it a neighbour, send it up a frame, feed it. Full column lands in inboxes today. Sign up for more garden gossip, lightly verified and mostly true.

How many pickles does one household need? Plant a few cucumbers in the GreenStalk and find out. Compact variety, upper tiers, let them trail. Pick small, pick often, and next year’s burgers are sorted. 🥒

Labour Weekend is the traditional weekend Kiwi gardeners plant out tomatoes. By late October the soil is warm and the frosts have mostly moved on, so this is the week to get ready. 🍅

Six steps, in order. Harden them off. Set the table with compost and Healthy Soil+. Bury two thirds of the stem. Stake on the day you plant. Invite basil, courgettes and cucumbers. Then net the lot before the birds find it.

The full tomato plan landed in inboxes this morning, and the sideways trench method is on the blog.
