Day 299/400 | Chicken in Ogbono Soup? Why Not? 😂🍲

Who says chicken can’t enter Ogbono soup, aka draw soup? 😂

One thing I love about drawing soups is that almost any protein can work with them. Soft fish, stockfish, chicken, beef… somehow, everything just comes together beautifully without disturbing the soup. 😋

So today, chicken joined the party and honestly, I enjoyed it!

But let’s settle this one: Do you prefer red meat or chicken in your soups? 👀

What Do You Do With Your Tomato Water? 🍅

I know some of us boil our tomatoes, drain the water and pour it away. But wait… why waste it? 😂

I simply use mine to cook the meat since the meat is going into the stew anyway. One less thing to waste and the flavour still gets to do its thing. 😋

Now I’m curious, what do you do with the water from boiling your tomatoes? Do you use it or pour it away?

Smoky Chicken & Tigernut Drink 🍗🥤

I ate smoky dry meat somewhere and decided to recreate it at home using my leftover chicken. 😂

And guess what? It actually came out really nice! 😋🔥

I washed it down with some homemade tigernut drink, and honestly, the combination was perfect.

Sometimes, all you need is a little inspiration and leftover food. 😂

Chicken Pepper Soup 🍲🐔

Since the weather is cold, let’s make something hot and comforting. 😋🔥

Today, we’re using the walking-talking parts of the chicken for pepper soup and keeping the main chicken parts for a better dish this weekend. 😂 You know… weekend vibes must be protected!

Vegetable Okro Soup 🍲

Simple vegetable Okro soup, but the protein did not come to play. 😂

Snail, ice fish, stockfish and dry fish all made their way into this pot, and honestly, that combination was giving! 😋

Sometimes you don’t need to do too much. Just put the right ingredients together and let the food speak for itself. 🤌🏽

Quick Nsala Soup 🍲🐟

Today was a quick pot of Nsala soup with catfish, and it came out so good. 😋

I also shared a little tip on how I wash my catfish to get rid of that slimy stuff on the body. Because nobody wants that in their soup. 😂

Now, let me ask you something. If you don’t have yam to thicken your Nsala soup, what do you use instead?

Snail Pepper Soup 🐌🍲

If you’re handed some snails, what are you making with them? 👀

For me, the cold weather made the decision easy. I went straight for a hot, spicy and comforting pot of snail pepper soup. 😋🔥

Because sometimes, the weather tells you exactly what your food should be. 😂

Cravings Must Be Answered 🦃😋

I was craving turkey, so I bought turkey. Simple! 😂

Yes, turkey is ridiculously expensive these days, but I’m a firm believer in eat what you’re craving for, because your body will thank you for it. 🤭

And somehow, my favourite Abacha found its way into the picture. Abacha + turkey? Why not! 😋 At this point, I refuse to explain myself. 😂

Craving satisfied. Belly happy. That’s what matters! 🤭

Egusi Soup Chronicles 🍲😂

I have come to the conclusion that there is no one-size-fits-all method for preparing Egusi soup. Everybody has their own style, and as long as the result is delicious, who are we to argue? 😂

But please, one thing is non-negotiable: let the Egusi cook very well! 😭😂
