Marble becomes more than a surface, taking on an almost fluid, expressive quality through its sweeping veins and beautifully carved forms. The interplay of bold geometries and softer, organic silhouettes creates a quiet tension between strength and delicacy, where each piece is conceived as an individual work of art, celebrating the raw beauty of the material and the artistry of its making.

Within the rhythm of a great city, there is a particular beauty in creating moments of stillness. At Mandarin Oriental Residences, Barcelona, the interiors explore this delicate balance between the energy of urban life and the intimacy of a private home. A restrained language of materials, architectural precision and softly orchestrated light creates a sense of calm, allowing the smallest details to hold their own quiet significance.

Architecture has its own way of directing the eye. Within this private residence in Mayfair, thresholds become moments of discovery, drawing the gaze through a sequence of beautifully framed spaces. Strong architectural lines are softened by the interplay of light, shadow and material, creating a sense of depth and intrigue.

Before it’s a floor, a basin, a bar top, it’s a mountain.
We spent a day in a working marble quarry in Italy recently, and came away seeing it as architecture.

Whole rooms carved by taking away. Ceilings cut flat. Light dropping in through a slot of sky. Every surface carries the rhythm of the saw, and every vein took millions of years to form.

And at the centre of it all are the people who read the stone before a single cut is made.

It’s a reminder of why provenance matters to us, and of everything that sits behind the surfaces we specify.

At the architecture sits lightly within the coastal landscape, shaped from indigenous stone and modernist lines. Inside, the elements become part of the design language, fire, water, earth, air, metal and the extraordinary light of Greece, each bringing its own texture, movement and energy to the spaces

There is a quiet tension in the lobby at 111 Passeig de Gràcia, between the calm of the architecture and the more expressive moments that bring the space to life. The statement light was conceived to give the room presence and rhythm, while the artwork introduces colour in a way that feels connected to Barcelona’s energy. That balance between serenity and character runs throughout the residences, where references to the city are woven in through atmosphere and detail.

At ROOI, One&Only Cape Town, fire becomes both theatre and gathering point. The sculptural pizza oven is wrapped in hand-laid copper tiles, creating a richly textured surface of shifting bronze, amber and burnished tones that echo the glow of embers. The irregular finish gives the wall an almost woven quality, catching the light differently across each tile. As the focal point of the open kitchen, it brings warmth, movement and craft into the room, drawing diners into the energy of the cooking itself.

We imagined the pool at the Medi-Spa at Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay as a moment suspended between water and sky. The moon became a recurring motif throughout the spa, a symbol of rhythm, renewal and its enduring pull on the sea. Here, that idea is expressed through light and reflection, creating an atmosphere that moves between the tangible and the dreamlike.

At this Notting Hill residential project, we explored how light can shift the character of a material. Set against richly veined stone, the glass fittings catch, soften and reflect the light in different ways, allowing the surface to change throughout the day. That dialogue between illumination and material gives the space its depth.

A staircase can suggest movement even in stillness. The sweeping line of this balustrade seems to unfurl through the space, guiding the eye in a continuous arc from one level to the next. Its curves create a rhythm that shifts as you move around it, revealing new perspectives with every turn.
