Another factory visit by one of our Directors and a Senior Interior Designer to check the progress of the custom fit-outs and interior detailing being crafted for the upcoming five-star super-luxury resort in Seychelles.

Being part of the architectural and interior design team, we’re excited to see our design vision move from drawings into beautifully crafted details.

Our design approach for this private home in a 9 perch land was centred on comfort, simplicity, and a quiet sense of luxury. We kept the layout clean and understated, with carefully selected furniture allowing the lush garden pockets to become the heart of the home. Layered tropical planting adds depth and greenery, while wide sliding timber doors open the living and dining spaces directly to the garden, blurring the boundary between the interiors and the tropical landscape.

A key feature is the dark wood-toned fluted panel wall behind the living and dining area, adding depth, texture, and character to the space.

Every interior element and accessory were thoughtfully considered to enhance comfort without compromising the simplicity of the spaces — from soft bedding and inviting seating areas to the generous use of raw timber in furniture and staircases, adding warmth and a cosy character throughout.

Multistorey department store project in Colombo 6

It’s incredibly rewarding to see the spaces finally take shape. Having crafted the complete exterior architecture, interior design and landscaping, watching it all transition into a cohesive destination is the most rewarding part of our design process.

We’re nearing the finish line and can’t wait to reveal the completed project soon!

A design dialogue Inside and Out.

The exterior facade features a rhythmic pattern of vertical stripes (custom louvers) for sun control and privacy. We carry that same rhythmic pattern of stripes inside.

For the core circulation and dining area of this Colombo home, we prioritized materiality. The staircase itself, with its warm timber treads, is defined by a frameless glass balustrade topped with a slim timber top stripe for comfort and definition.

The real showstopper, however, is the custom feature wall behind the timber and glass staircase. It reinterprets the exterior detail using a complex matrix of cement-mould modules in a titanium-effect finish, defined by embedded timber stripes.

This visual continuity unifies the public facade with the home's core, creating a sophisticated and well-thought-out space. The dining area sits at the intersection of this dialogue, using these textures to perfectly define the space within the open plan. Every element is considered.

A Story of Textures: Balancing Light, Shadow and Form.

This residence located within a busy part of Central Colombo, is an immersive exploration of tactile materiality, where every surface contributes to a cohesive narrative of light, shade, and architectural depth. Rather than relying on bold colors, the design speaks through a sophisticated palette of varied textures that elevate minimalist spaces into warm, sensory environments.
* Exterior Facade & Arrival: The journey begins at the street front, where heavy, rough-hewn marble masonry contrasts with delicate vertical louvers and cascading greenery. This interplay creates an immediate dialogue between raw earthiness and refined geometry, establishing privacy while allowing dynamic slivers of evening light to filter through.
* Interior Walls & Joinery: Throughout the interior, walls serve as dynamic canvases for depth. Delicate vertical timber fluting lines key feature walls and custom cabinetry, adding rhythmic shadow lines. In double-height circulation zones and staircase voids, cementitious plaster panels are accented with raised timber fins, transforming functional walls into sculptural art pieces under focused accent lighting.
* Flooring & Staircase Treads: Underfoot, smooth, light terrazzo floors offer a polished, continuous plane that reflects subtle natural light into the deeper living zones. This cool, seamless surface is balanced by the tactile warmth of natural timber stair treads and soft, plush area rugs that anchor the seating areas.
* Ceilings & Rooftop: Overhead, ceilings transition from clean, matte white surfaces indoors—designed to maximize ambient illumination—to dramatic slatted pergolas on the rooftop terrace. The rooftop structure creates a rhythmic canopy of light and shadow over the tiled terraces and built-in planters, offering panoramic views framed by structural lines.
* Soft Elements & Light Interplay: Floor-to-ceiling drapery, woven textiles, and organic botanical arrangements soften the architectural lines. Integrated warm strip lighting specifically highlights textured surfaces, casting gentle gradients that transform the mood from bright and airy during the day to intimate and calm by night.

A thoughtful transformation from an aging house into a contemporary private villa.

This 4560 sq.ft. residence in Bambalapitiya, Colombo, was reimagined to embrace openness, natural light and cross ventilation while creating warm, intimate spaces for everyday living. Every corner has been carefully designed to balance modern simplicity with a sense of comfort and calm.

The ground floor accommodates the living and dining areas, kitchen, parking, and a bedroom opening onto a private courtyard. Upstairs, the master suite, two additional bedrooms, and a family TV lounge provide comfortable spaces for family living, while an open-sky terrace offers a peaceful retreat above the city.
The result is a sleek, contemporary home where light, space, and thoughtful design come together to create a timeless living experience.
