❌ “49ers” strike in Millhouses ❌
We were called to help a customer in Millhouses, S7 who had sadly been the victim of the dreaded 49ers on Sunday night.
They had just got back home after a long flight, and the locking mechanism had failed on their door. Even though they had the key, the door wouldn’t open.
They believed they were calling a local locksmith, but instead rang a national company who sent out an inexperienced engineer, who struggled for hours to force open the door. They snapped the cylinder lock, drilled off the handles, and mashed up the lock case, but due to the nature of the fault, they still couldn’t get in, without crow-barring the door and forcing it open.
They left the door unsecure, claiming they had no spare parts, leaving the customer vulnerable and with a large bill for their time!
We were recommended by several neighbours on their street WhatsApp group, who we had previously done work for, and arranged to go out ASAP to repair and replace all the damaged parts.

If you ever find yourself locked out and in a vulnerable position, don’t panic and phone the first number that appears at the top of Google searches.

✅ Always ask for a price…. While it might be difficult to give an exact quote without seeing the door/issue, a genuine locksmith will always be upfront about an hourly rate and give a rough guide to prices of parts that could be required.
✅ Always try to ask for recommendations from street groups/friends who have previously had work done, and save a couple of numbers to your phone…. You may never need to use them, but you’ll be very glad you did in case of an emergency! 🚨
