🌲 Big trees, small garden!

Planted around 40 years ago and left to grow unchecked, these enormous cypress trees had considerably outgrown their surroundings, dominating this small back garden and towering over neighbouring properties.

With sheds, fences and gardens beneath them, this was a job for a careful, controlled dismantle—bringing the trees down section by section.

A proper team effort from Timber Tree Surgery, opening up the garden and bringing some much-needed daylight back into the surrounding area. 💪🪵

🌳 Emergency storm-damaged tree work in Aberdeen 🌳

An early start for the Timber Tree Surgery team today, heading north to Aberdeen to deal with a large horse chestnut that had fallen onto site accommodation during the recent storm.

With the tree resting against the buildings and limited space around it, this was a complex job requiring careful planning and a controlled approach. Working alongside the site manager, who helped us move the tree clear of the building using a telehandler, we were able to dismantle and make the situation safe.

A big thank you to the site team for their assistance today. 🤝

It was a long day, leaving home at 5:30 this morning and returning at 5:30 this evening, but we were pleased to help get the site back on track.

🌳 A big ash and a challenging removal for the Timber team this week.

This large ash was showing stage 2 ash dieback, but the surrounding obstacles added to the difficulty: a bundled overhead power cable and telephone lines made this a demanding job requiring careful planning and precise work. Thanks to Craig & Jack.

A great effort from the team getting this one down for our client. 👏

🌳 A big step forward for Timber Tree Surgery

I’m pleased to share that I’ve passed the Professional Tree Inspection assessment.

This is a demanding assessment for experienced arborists. It tests far more than whether you can spot a dead branch: you need to recognise signs of decay and structural weakness, understand what they mean for a particular tree, assess the risk in its surroundings, and make clear, proportionate recommendations. It takes both technical knowledge and sound judgement in the field.

For our customers, that means we can bring a deeper level of inspection to the work we do. If you’re responsible for trees at a home, business or estate and have concerns about their condition, we can help you understand what’s going on and what action, if any, is needed.

I’ve put a lot of work into this one, so I’m delighted to have passed - as you can tell from my huge grin!

A little piece of Dundee’s arboricultural history 🌳

Today we carried out careful pruning work on this magnificent mature Camperdown elm — Ulmus glabra ‘Camperdownii’.

Originating here in Dundee in the 19th century, the Camperdown elm is instantly recognisable by its distinctive weeping form.

Low, pendulous growth was encroaching on the church building and reducing clearance over the pavement and grounds. We selectively removed and shortened branches to create space around the building, improve access and reduce the potential for damage — while retaining the tree’s natural character.

A big improvement for both the tree and its surroundings.
