Another weekend of sacrifice and graft . Miss my family in moments like these, especially when events are on . But after working hard again all week , the weekends are the only chance I get to work on our home , trying my best to get it livable by Christmas with limited time ! Preparation to the render on Saturday and fixing telephone lines, and setting up and rendering all on my lonesome again. Wish there were 8 days in the week at the moment to actually have a day off !

The first skill i learned in this building industry was labouring for a plasterer, not plastering itself. Which makes it 100 times easier to produce finishes like this, but most importantly, this finish wouldn't have happened if the preparation wasn't prepared properly.
1st trade I learned plastering and done this since I was 15 years old now ! Long time , and I'm getting on now, especially with forgetting more than you know ! From the old trades I laboured for many moons ago!
Easier this plastering when you put all your energy, time , effort, and not think about earning a decent wage for the early years . Hardwork is the biggest skill you can have in this game. Big up the plasterers and builders!

Plus, delivery's today, kerb side drops only ! So, I had to load all the insulation and boiler in ready for the next tasks .

Boarding, electrics, plumbing , joinery all carried out this past week . Vision is all starting to come together now .

24/09/2026

A major personal milestone for myself today .
Loaded up the plasterboards, etc, and finally laid the very first plasterboard! Managed to get a lot done today with some more electrics, some plumbing, and ordering more materials .
The vision is starting to come together!
One man , one lad to complete all this .
Everything is level and square as it's all about doing the preparation right to make everything easy when starting to plaster!

Footings dug and hand mixed / poured ready for retaining walls .
Brickwork finished, and steels / cavities were all blocked up and sealed (this brickwork will never be seen due to wrap around roofs )
Brickwork and sandstone lintels installed with my last window.
Now it's fully secured and watertight, ready to crack on inside next week.
Never-ending project!
