If you know Utility from our gift stores, you’ll know we couldn’t design The Flint without adding some of the things we’re so well known for.

From diffusers to candles, cards, gifts, plates, glassware, prints and notebooks, you’ll find our favourite pieces from our other stores curated in-store at The Flint.

You might just find you pop in for a look at a chair, and find yourself leaving with a new set of glasses, a card for that birthday that’s coming up and a new bathrobe.

Sometimes pieces just speak to you 😉

Good morning from The Flint ☺️

We’re open, the lights are on, our team are ready, and the floating fireplace is lit.

Of course, you can always shop with us online, with delivery to 150 countries worldwide, but nothing beats visiting us in person (not least because you’ll get to breathe in the bespoke Utility scent that greets you when you walk in the door. If you know, you know).

We’re known for furniture and lighting here at The Flint, but there’s much more to us than that 👀

We’ve got bathrobes for slow mornings, TV stands that are anything but ordinary, tote bags for every day, bottle openers that are too good to stay hidden in a drawer and toothbrushes, because good design belongs on the bathroom shelf too.

What do a bike and a chair have in common? More than you might think 🪑🚴

In the 1920s, Marcel Breuer was riding his Adler bicycle and couldn’t stop looking at the handlebar frame. Made of bent tubular steel, it was light but tough, and he wondered if he could use the same material to make furniture.

The Cesca chair was the outcome, and the rest, as they say, is history.

It’s made from the same premise as the bike frame - bent into a cantilever with no back legs, then topped with wood and cane.

It started out with the far less catchy name of B32, but was later named after Breuer’s adopted daughter, Francesca.

That was in 1928, and in 1968, Knoll Inc. purchased the design. Since then, people worldwide have purchased around 250,000 chairs, each with Breuer’s signature stamped into the base.

There’s a reason this beauty has been named one of the ten most important chairs of the 20th century 😍

We’re based in arguably the UK’s biggest city for music, so a music-inspired print was always going to be a winner for us 🎶
