Today an investigation into water ingress 🔍

Removed sections of roof tiles to investigate a customer's water ingress problem and found that the felt had badly deteriorated and dropped down across all the dormer windows.

Unfortunately, this isn't a simple repair. I've advised the customer that the roof will need stripping, re-felting and battening then replace the exising tiles.

I've recommended a roofing contractor to carry out the necessary work at a later date.

In the meantime, I've replaced the tiles to leave the roof secure until the repairs can be completed.

It's always important to find the root cause of a problem and give customers honest advice on the best way forward.

🔧🚐 Keeping the van on the road!

Not all the work is out on the jobs — sometimes you’ve got to look after the van that keeps the business moving! 💪

Currently in the middle of some van repairs, with the gearbox out and a new clutch going in. It’s all part of running your own business — keeping the tools, van and everything else in good working order so we can keep turning up and getting the jobs done! 🛠️

Hopefully, we’ll be back on the road and ready for the next job soon!

🏡 Porch cladding completed in Swineshead!

Another job completed for Fen View Windows.

The customer had been badly let down by a previous contractor who had attempted the porch cladding, so I stepped in to get the job finished properly.

A much-improved finish, giving the porch a fresh, tidy look! 👌

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a final photo with the box end corners fitted, but the job was completed with those finishing touches in place!

Today I replaced the customer’s old, draughty wooden door and side screen with a smart new composite door and UPVC side screen.

Finished in Charwell Green with a crisp white UPVC frame, it’s given the entrance a much-needed modern upgrade while helping keep those unwanted draughts out. 👌

A customer contacted Fen View Windows after having a log cabin installed and needed a few finishing touches carried out so she could activate her guarantee with the installation company.

I fitted new black guttering and sealed all the areas that needed attention, including around the roof, helping to make sure the cabin was properly weatherproofed and ready to go. ✅

🏠 Another job completed in Swineshead! 🔨

The customer contacted Fen View Windows after being left with a poor-quality fascia and guttering installation that had caused a number of problems — including windows upstairs that couldn’t even be opened properly, no soffit installed, and fascia that was simply too large for the property.

I stripped back the whole house and put it right, installing new fascia, soffit and guttering, leaving the property looking the way it should have done in the first place. 👌
