A CITY WITHIN A CITY

A few memories from Marseille this summer where we visited Le Corbusier’s Unité d’Habitation.

What fascinates me most about this building is the ambition behind it: the idea of reimagining domestic life through architecture, bringing together individual homes, communal spaces and everyday rituals under one roof.

More than 70 years later, it remains one of the most compelling experiments in collective living. And such a pleasure to finally experience its scale, proportions and extraordinary use of colour in person.

FROM TIMBER TO TREASURE

A few months ago we travelled to Porto to visit the workshop of De La Espada, one of our favourite furniture makers.

I have always admired their work but seeing the people, the techniques and the extraordinary care that goes into each piece made me appreciate it even more. From the selection of timber to the precision of every joint and finish, it was fascinating to witness that level of craftsmanship firsthand.

Thank you De La Espada and the whole team for welcoming us into your world. Such a privilege!

A HOUSE IN CONTINUATION

Excited to begin a new residential extension project, starting with these beautiful original drawings. A chance to explore the architecture of the existing house and imagine how it can evolve for a new way of living, bringing past and present into a continuos dialogue.

CONTRAST

I keep coming back to this space by Dimore Gallery during Milan Design Week earlier this year.

An interesting exercise in contrasts: solid and translucent, dark and pale, soft and architectural. Everything in tension but nothing feels forced.

When it comes to books, references and beautiful things to look at, I have very little interest in minimalism. The more there is to discover, the better.

CHANGE OF PERSPECTIVE

One of the things I enjoy most about residential architecture is working with the sequence of spaces. How one room leads to another, what you see from a doorway and how a single curve can change your perception of the entire plan.
