The garden might be slowing down, but there’s still plenty to do before the frost fully settles in!
Here’s what you can check off your list👇
🌷 Plant your spring bulbs (it’s your last call before the ground freezes!)
🍂 Rake, but not too much! Leave some leaves in your beds for pollinators and insulation.
🌹 Protect tender perennials and roses with mulch or soil mounds.
🌾 Cut back selectively, keep grasses and seed heads for winter interest and the birds.
🌲 Water evergreens deeply before the freeze to prevent winter burn.
🧄 Plant garlic bulbs for next summer’s harvest.
🐦 Set out bird feeders for your feathered friends.
🪴 Clean and store garden tools, hoses & décor before the frost hits.

Once the work is done, grab a cozy drink, admire the last of the fall colours, and start dreaming about next year’s garden.

Fall lawn care: a little cleanup goes a long way!

As the temperatures cool, there are a few things you can do to help your lawn and garden prepare for winter.

🍁 Give your lawn a final mow before winter.
🌱 Clear away fallen branches and debris.
🌿 Keep your garden beds tidy, but don’t be too quick to rake up all your leaves!

Fallen leaves provide important winter shelter for beneficial insects and other garden wildlife. Instead of bagging every last leaf, leave some in your garden beds or tuck them beneath shrubs to help create a cozy winter habitat. 🐝🦋

A little less tidying now can make a big difference for your garden’s ecosystem come spring!
