📣 A new federal heat pump rebate is coming — and November 1 is an important date.

The federal government has announced a new rebate of:

✅ $2,000 for eligible homeowners
✅ Up to $10,000 for eligible low- and moderate-income households

The application portal won’t open until early 2027, but eligible heat pumps installed on or after November 1, 2026 may qualify retroactively.

Complete details—including income limits, eligible equipment and application requirements—are expected November 1. Until those rules are released, homeowners should avoid assuming that every installation will qualify.

Meanwhile, BC Hydro’s temporary bonus for eligible electric-to-heat-pump conversions ends October 31, 2026.

Heat pump rebates: a quick update from Mike 👋

FortisBC’s dual-fuel rebate is back, offering eligible homeowners $4,000 toward a qualifying heat pump and gas furnace system, or $8,000 for income-qualified households.

If your gas furnace is 15 years or older, this could be worth exploring. There are equipment and eligibility requirements, though—furnace age alone doesn’t guarantee approval.

🌟 Allow me to toot my own horn for a second. Usually, I stick to fixing things that make that noise.

For the first couple of years, Method Air’s website was built by a large firm with a proven track record in HVAC. I left it to the experts and hoped for the best.

But it never really felt like us. It could have belonged to just about any heating and cooling company, anywhere in North America. It didn’t tell you much about me, our values, or how we actually work—and the inquiries we received often reflected that disconnect.

Earlier this year, I decided to build it myself, with transparency at the centre: clear pricing, honest explanations, and realistic expectations about what we can do for your home.

That meant several months of late nights, learning WordPress, gathering inspiration, and occasionally questioning whether I should stick to heat pumps.

Yesterday, a client told me it was the best trade website she’d ever come across. What stood out to her was that we publish our prices and explain things plainly, without sugarcoating or making promises we can’t keep.

That meant a lot. Those were exactly the things I wanted to get right.

I’m proud of how it turned out—and even prouder that it finally feels like Method Air. 🤙🏽

📣 New federal heat pump rebates are coming!

The Government of Canada has announced a new National Heat Pump Rebate to help homeowners make the switch to efficient heating and cooling.

Here’s what’s been announced:

✅ Up to $10,000 for eligible households below median income
✅ $2,000 for other eligible homeowners
✅ No pre- or post-installation energy audits required
✅ Rebates that can be combined with provincial programs, subject to eligibility

A little less paperwork. A little more comfort. We like the sound of that.

The program isn’t open yet. Launch dates, detailed eligibility rules, and how it will work alongside B.C.’s rebates still need to be confirmed.

For a typical 500-litre delivery, that’s over $1,100 per fill.

🎃 A little extra green before Halloween.

BC Hydro has added a limited-time bonus rebate of up to $1,000 for eligible heat pump installations — on top of the regular rebates already available.

For qualifying homeowners switching from electric heat:

🏠 Whole-home heat pump: $4,000 rebate + $1,000 bonus
🌡️ Partial-home heat pump: $1,500 rebate + $500 bonus

Condo and apartment heat pump installations may qualify for bonus rebates too.

And as an extra perk, eligible customers can also enter for a chance to win 1 of 3 $5,000 prizes from BC Hydro.

The catch? Your new heat pump needs to be installed, invoiced and fully paid by October 31, 2026, and bonus funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you’ve been thinking about replacing your electric baseboards with a heat pump, this might be a pretty good time to get moving.
