It's time to add winter tree prep to your fall to-do's. Here are some best practices to help your trees thrive through the season:
✓ Water: Give trees a deep soaking late in the fall so the roots stay hydrated through dry winter winds.
✓ Mulch: Spread wood chips or bark around the root zone to insulate the soil and hold in moisture.
✓ Wrap: Protect young or thin-backed trees from sunscald.
✓ Protect: Consider wire mesh or plastic guards around the base of the trunk to stop hungry rodents from chewing the bark.
And finally:
✓ Book Winter Work: Dormant season is a great time to take care of routine maintenance while minimizing tree stress.
