Bright Threads The most colourful table linen on the planet 💚
I have combined my equal loves of LUXE linen with bright, and bold colour combinations.

Bright Threads is tabletop linen turned on its head - as beautiful, bright, eclectic, textured and mixy matchy as you want it to be. Fond childhood memories, and a passion for entertaining is the inspiration behind creating beautiful tablescapes while playfully mixing patterns and prints. My focus is tabletop textiles - napkins, runners, and tablecloths, aprons and tea towels - and recently I added colourful resin napkin rings.

What a privilege to be this knackered.

That’s just me and the ironing board after a full day of ironing orders and getting stock ready for the Christmas photoshoot. I have had quite enough of the iron for one day, but knowing you love this collection as much as I do feels like a bloody big blessing. Is it weird that nearly ten years in I still had iron every single piece that I pack and send, maybe - but it’s a little part of the process I cannot seem to relinquish. Weirdly, I kinda love it. You will never see me in ironed clothing, but I will happily iron all your BT linens.

Thank you my friends, yo are the best xx

I read something from KOEL Magazine | Yarn Craft about making things well rather than simply making more, and it has sat with me.

I know how much work goes into every piece of Bright Threads linen. From the printing tables in Bali and the care taken by the sewing team, right through to me ironing each individual piece before I package it up and send to you. I have plenty of time to think about it at the ironing board, believe me.

I am incredibly proud of what we make, and I want you to enjoy it for years. Mix it with pieces you already own, bring it out for friends, put it on the table just because you feel like it.

Please don’t save the good linens for an occasion that never quite arrives. There is far too much love put into that tablecloth for it to spend its life in the linen cupboard. Put it on the table. That’s what I made it for. Xx

There are people behind every piece of Bright Threads. People I know, spend time with and am incredibly proud to work alongside.

Watching our fabrics being printed by hand never gets old. The screens being lined up, the colour pulled across the cloth, the concentration and skill that goes into getting each print right. Then it’s into the hands of the sewing team, who turn those lengths of fabric into the pieces you put on your table.

It takes time, and I think that time deserves to be valued. So do the people, their knowledge and the years they have spent learning their craft.

I want you to love what is on your table. But I also want you to know a little about whose hands it passed through to get there. That is a huge part of what makes Bright Threads so special to me.

This is Bright Threads xx

A little Christmas table play, with a few things pulled from the linen cupboard and samples from the new collection. This is exactly how I love to style a table, mixing what I already own with something new.

Here, I have started with an embroidered cloth from last years Christmas collection, layered the soon to be released gingham and pink-and-red candy print from 2023 through the centre, then added pink printed napkins, favourite Robert Gordon Pottery plates and beautiful lilacs from the garden.

When you are working with pink + red, my tip is to decide which colour you want to lead. More pink gives you a softer, lighter table, with red adding little bursts of Christmas. More red makes it feel bold and festive, while the pink softens it beautifully. The same colours, but quite a different mood depending on how much of each you use.

And yes, you can mix all of your prints! Keeping a common colour running through them helps tie everything together. Here, the embroidered cloth and simple rose quartz plates give the checks, stripes and print clashing napkins a little breathing room. Loosely gather your runner through the centre, let the fabrics overlap and hang organically. It doesn’t all need to sit perfectly straight.

P.S. These beautiful embroidered cloths are in the sale section of the website and make such a lovely addition to your Christmas linen collection.

A little production update too: the Christmas collection is being printed this week and will be with our sewing team by the weekend, ready for four solid weeks of sewing. We’re expecting stock to arrive in the first week of December, or, fingers crossed, the week before!

So, which way would you go: a little more pink or a little more red?

We are getting so close to going live with our Ubud Food & Culture Retreat for October 2027, and I am genuinely so excited about this one.

I have spent the past few weeks writing, tweaking, rewriting and then rewriting again the copy for our day-to-day experiences. And somewhere in the middle of explaining why I have chosen each restaurant, each experience and each person I want you to meet, I have been reminded just how much I love this part of Bali.

If you are a massive foodie like me, this retreat is for you. Promise. I have been travelling to Bali for over forty years, and Ubud has one of my favourite dining scenes anywhere in the world. From tiny family-run warungs to some of the most extraordinary dining experiences I have ever had.

I have built this retreat around the places I return to, the people I have met along the way and a handful of what I call memory meals. Those rare meals that stay with you for years, long after you have forgotten what was on the menu. One of those meals is the very reason this retreat exists, and I cannot wait to share it with you.

There will be cooking, exploring, making, incredible food, a *few* cocktails and plenty of time to wander the little streets of Ubud at your own pace.

3–9 October 2027. Seven days, six nights. Just 16 guests.

Pre-registration is now open via the link in my bio.

And if you are already thinking about dinner while you are still eating lunch, I think we are going to get along just fine. Xx

Some of the best things we bring home from a week away don’t take up any room in the suitcase.

There is the fabric we spent far too long choosing. The pieces we made. The photographs and the recipes we are determined to cook again.

And there is also the feeling of having had a little room for ourselves. Time to sit over breakfast and finish a conversation. To make something with our hands without needing to be good at it. To wander through a fabric shop and follow our own curiosity, with no one asking how much longer we will be.

I loved sharing my Bali with the women who joined me in August. But I also loved watching everyone settle in. Getting to know each other. Laughing over dinner. Making plans together for their free afternoon.

Of course, we come home to work, families, washing and everything we left waiting. I am still thinking about how we make a little more room for those things we enjoyed while we were away. Making something simply because we want to. Taking a proper lunch break. Spending time with people who make us laugh.

That is something I hope comes home with you, alongside a very full suitcase.

Join me in Sanur, 16–22 May 2027. Details via the link in my bio. Xx

I have been thinking about her a lot lately.

This is me, about 31, living in Beijing with a head full of ideas and a fairly firm belief that anything was possible.

I was living in Sydney when I applied for a job in Beijing. I had never even been to China, I honestly thought it would be like HK - how now I’ve I was. lol. I got the job, sold up, packed up my life and moved. I didn’t know a single human in that city. My brother was in Hong Kong, which felt reassuringly close when looking at a map. In reality, it was just me and a ginormous city.

It turned out to be two of the best and most challenging years of my life. I frickin LOVED IT.

There’s something about being young, isn’t there? The courage to take a leap without needing to know how every part of it will work. My thinking was fairly straightforward: what is the worst that could happen? I come home.

It didn’t take long to find a gang of mates, and I loved them all, still do. They became my Beijing family. My Beijing siblings. We bought these ridiculous bouquets of helium balloons for birthdays, holidays, parties or a perfectly ordinary Tuesday. There was usually something worth celebrating, and we were very good at finding it.

Looking at her now, I remember how much she had to work out as she went. The confidence got her on the plane, but there were plenty of days when living there took a bit more than that.

Years before Bright Threads was even an idea, she was already drawn to colour, people and the possibility of making something happen. I think I could do with a little more of her approach lately. Take the chance. Work it out as you go. Buy the balloons. 🎈❤️

Thank you so much to everyone who has placed a Christmas pre-order. I am so thrilled you love this collection - Sophisticated Garish - as much as I do, and I cannot wait to see all your fabulous tables this year. Christmas 2026 is going to be amazing. 🎉

I keep looking at these napkin samples side by side, trying to decide which print is my favourite. Just when I think I’ve settled on one, I put them all together and realise that is what I love most. The bottles, the gingham, the big red polkas and the candy, all mixed up around the same table.

That was always the idea behind this collection. Choose your favourite, mix all four, or add a few to the pink and red Bright Threads pieces you already bring out each Christmas.

If you have been pondering your Christmas table, send me a note. I am very happy to help you put a combination together.

Are you choosing one print, or joining me in having a bit of everything this festive season?

This is Wayan. He doesn’t speak a heap of English and I barely speak any Balinese, but we have worked so well together for years.

Somehow, between us, we manage to turn the things in my head into the linen you put on your tables. That is what makes working with this team so fab. Years of knowing each other, figuring things out together and caring about what we make.

There is so much of Wayan’s skill and care in the linen that leaves this workshop. I get to see it being made, and I would love you to know a little more about the people making it, too.

If you would like to meet Wayan and the team and try your hand at screen printing, join me in Bali in May 2027 for the Bright Threads Textile Retreat. Link in bio Xx
