IF YOU HAVE AN OUTSIDE OIL TANK - and you are now buying #2 heating fuel (no one blames you - it’s a great way to save a lot of money) but it is a gamble.
PLEASE add a fuel treatment to prevent gelling in colder weather - it’s not that expensive.
If your fuel gels enough to burn your oil pump out - you will have saved zero dollars.
Around Christmas time - your oil tank should be AT LEAST mixed with k1. Although I will alwayyyyys recommend buying straight k1 near outside temps of zero degrees.

I’m here to help - I’m not trying scare anyone. Just informing. This treatment is available at most hardware stores and has same day delivery from Home Depot.

Change the batteries in your thermostats.

Don’t wait for them to show low battery. Just change them.

When parts for the old oil furnace were gone, this homeowner needed heat they could actually count on. We swapped it for a high efficiency Thermopride - reliable, built for Maine winters, and backed by a limited lifetime warranty. Warm house. Fewer headaches. Done right.

Don’t Get Left in the Cold This Winter

Mechanical failures happen in every type of heating system—oil, propane, natural gas, or heat pumps. They are not a matter of if, they are a matter of when. When a failure occurs, parts availability has become less predictable. Many suppliers have reduced stock levels, which means the part you might need may have to be shipped or trucked in. Each year we are surprised by a different part that has lower then expected inventory levels. We carry most traditional repair parts, but no one can predict the future. That wait can leave you without heat for days.
The most reliable way to protect your family is to have two working sources of heat. One of the simplest and most affordable backups is a quality electric space heater. They take up little space, plug into a standard outlet in most rooms, and can keep a living area comfortable while you wait for parts or a scheduled repair.
In most cases the cost of a good space heater is far less than a late-night or weekend emergency service call. It can be the difference between staying comfortable and paying premium rates for an after-hours repair.
We recommend having at least one (preferably two or three) heaters on hand BEFORE you need them, and testing them now so you know they work.
Below are a few readily available options from the major hardware stores in our area.

Don’t get left in the cold. Be prepared.

A FRIENDLY reminder

This is my office.

And in this picture is my entire staff.

Just me. A basement. A service truck. And a cellphone I pay good money for that still hates concrete walls and dies faster than I’d like. Chelsea helps when she can, but has her own career and kids to take care of.
This time of year is a big push — getting systems in and running before anyone needs them. The phone rings a lot, and that is NOT A COMPLAINT. I am genuinely grateful every time one of you wants to be scheduled.
If I don’t answer right away, it isn’t because you’re not important. It’s because I’m usually on a job, in a basement with no signal, or waiting until I can actually look at the calendar, check parts, and give you a time I can keep. The last thing I want is to book you, have you rearrange your day, and then drop the ball — missed appointment, double-booked slot, parts I forgot to order.
I usually only lock in 1–3 jobs at a time for that same reason. Not everyone can text or email back in the moment, and I’d rather do it right than fast.
My family and I don’t take any of this for granted. We appreciate each and everyone of you and are truly grateful for the opportunity’s!

Thank you for the work, the trust, and the chance to take care of your home.

Today would be a WONDERFUL morning to make sure your heating system is ready to go—and to get an idea of how much fuel you may or may not need. 🔥

Consider this the unofficial start of heating season! 🍂

Simply turn your thermostats up to 80°, wait 15–20 minutes, and check to make sure your baseboards, radiant loops, duct registers, or radiators are heating up the way you’d expect.

If they aren’t… you know who to call! 😉

We’d be happy to help get things warmed up and ready for the season!
