There’s a 110-year-old estate hiding near downtown Flint—and you can explore it for free.

This week’s Local Spotlight takes us to Applewood: The Charles Stewart Mott Estate.

Built in 1916 as the family home and gentleman’s farm of automotive pioneer Charles Stewart Mott, Applewood offers a fascinating look at Flint history beyond the factory floor.

Today you can explore the historic home, stroll through perennial and rose gardens, follow the Discovery Trail and see an heirloom apple orchard with 29 varieties.

And one of the best parts? Admission is free.

📍 Flint • Genesee County
🍎 Open season continues through October 31.

If you’ve lived in Genesee County for years but have never visited Applewood, this might be the month to change that.

Have you been to Applewood? What’s your favorite part—the house, gardens or orchard?
