First new solo project I've done in a long while. Ever since joining the National Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners (Carpenters Union Local 349).
The client wanted their existing deck (uncovered) demolished and replaced with new deck of an original design complete with architectural prints (orthographic, detail, elevation, etc) in order to upset update public records. New deck is to feature the addition of a hipped roof with a gable end centered over the front entry door and deck stairs.
The photos below are where I'm at after finishing the second day of production working alone.
Day 1: - Set up string lines and batter boards to set up the layout, find and mark all reference and control lines
- Dig (4x) holes (36" x 12") for (4"x4")
post footings
-line holes with Sonotube tube form, hand mix and pour (8x) 60lb bags of high strength concrete mix
Day 2: - began framing:
-stood (4x) main support posts for deck and roof
- mounted main support beam, hung ledger board and tied everything together while hanging floor joists and rim joists.
=installed all necessary simpson hanger hardware where appropriate (joist hangers, post bases, hurricane ties, carriage bolts, lag bolts and screws, etc..)
