Another High Point Market, another round of miles walked, fabrics touched, and notes scribbled in every margin. Between panel discussions and showroom after showroom of new collections, we came home with full notebooks, tired feet, and more ideas than we know what to do with.

Market always reminds us how much thought goes into every piece we choose for our clients’ homes here in Marin County and the San Francisco Bay Area, and how much fun it is to do this for a living. Here’s a quick look at the highlights.

Thank you for the hospitality.

What you don’t see in a finished interior photo: the shot list, the tripod, and the vase we moved one more time.

Every frame is planned before photoshoot day. We map out which rooms, which angles, and which details tell the story of the design. On set, reads the light and the composition, and we adjust until each shot works. The florals shift an inch, a pillow gets reset, and a diffuser softens the light so every finish reads true on camera.

A year of design deserves to be photographed with the same care.

Before demo dust settles, we’ve already mapped the floor plan, drawn every elevation, and pulled each material, fixture, and appliance into one detailed design presentation. Tile, countertops, flooring, lighting, plumbing, all decided and documented so the build has a clear roadmap from the start.

That’s the process. The progress is what you’re looking at now: drywall up, windows framed, and a kitchen and dining space that already knows exactly what it’s going to be.

Full service interior design and kitchen renovation in Marin County and the San Francisco Bay Area means doing the thinking early, so the job site can focus on doing.

A room can look completely different from one hour to the next.

In the kitchen, daylight pours through the windows, bouncing off the stone and bringing out the warmth and variation in the wood cabinetry. As the day moves on, that natural brightness gives way to something softer. The pendants begin to glow, concealed lighting washes gently across the cabinetry, and suddenly the same room feels warmer and more intimate.

In the bathrooms, lighting takes on another role. Globe pendants and sculptural sconces cast a softer light against terrazzo and tile, drawing attention to texture, color and the smaller details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

That transition is something we think about when designing a space. Not just how a room looks in a photograph, but how it will feel on a bright morning, a cloudy afternoon or at the end of the day when the overhead lights are off and only the softer layers remain.

Because some of the best moments in a home happen when the light changes.

A primary bedroom should feel like a retreat, but that doesn’t mean it has to play it safe.

For this space, the inspiration begins with a richer, moodier palette of deep teal, earthy rust and warm burgundy, softened with creamy neutrals and natural wood tones. Rather than relying on one statement element, character comes through in the layers: upholstered pieces, patterned textiles, botanical influences, warm lighting and a mix of textures that make the room feel collected over time.

The balance is important. Deeper colours bring intimacy and depth, while lighter bedding and softer finishes keep the room feeling calm and inviting. It’s a direction that feels expressive and personal, but still restful enough for the place you begin and end each day.

Studio SQUIRE contributed expert insight on space-saving furniture choices that help smaller homes work harder without making them feel crowded. From versatile pieces that serve more than one purpose to furniture that introduces valuable storage, thoughtful selections can completely change how a room functions and feels.

It’s a reminder that good design isn’t necessarily about having more square footage. It’s about making every square foot count.

Three bathrooms. Three completely different personalities. Which one feels most like you?

1) Warm terrazzo, natural wood and brass details for a soft, organic look with a playful edge.

2) Soft blue-grey tile, natural wood cabinetry and brushed brass details come together for a calm, refined bathroom where subtle texture adds depth and character.

3) Crisp white tile, a deep green accent, graphic flooring and warm wood for a bolder take on contrast and pattern.

One of our favorite things about bathroom design is how much personality can be introduced into a relatively small space. Color, tile, lighting, hardware and texture can take the same functional requirements in completely different directions.

So, which one are you choosing: 1, 2 or 3?👇

After a fire, this home needed a fresh start. We renovated it top to bottom and sourced every piece of furniture. The accessories? We know who to call.

A year later, styling day is when it finally started to feel like home again. brought the pillows, the art, and the objects, plus a sharp eye for exactly where each one belongs.

It's a step most homeowners never see, and a big part of what full service interior design looks like in practice.

Photos of the finished home are coming soon. Consider this the trailer.

Sorry, pumpkins. It's pear season.

Good Housekeeping asked designers what is taking over fall décor this year, and we had opinions. Swipe to see why we are backing the pear.

What we love most is how little effort it takes. One good bowl, a few pears, and the dining table is dressed for fall. No carving, no glitter, and nothing to haul back to the garage in November. Seasonal styling works best when it is simple, useful, and already on your grocery list.

A door doesn’t have to disappear into the background.

In a home with a clean, minimal foundation, the right architectural detail can introduce warmth and character without adding unnecessary visual noise. Here, a custom wood barn door transforms a practical pantry entrance into a feature of its own.

The directional grain and variation in the timber create natural movement, while the black hardware gives the design a more contemporary edge and connects with the darker details throughout the kitchen. When closed, it becomes almost like a piece of functional art. When open, it reveals a hardworking pantry designed for everyday life.
It’s a good example of why we consider the details that sit between the bigger design decisions. Doors, hardware, trim and transitions may be functional necessities, but thoughtfully designed, they can become some of the most memorable elements in a home.
