Remember that door we closed off in the entertainment room? Well, here’s what was on the other side…
Broken valves that had been repaired multiple times eventually led to a complete gut. I initially thought we’d take this bathroom in a spa-like zen direction, but then I watched my boy come to life as he saw all the modern stone slabs and tile options. We quickly realized we needed to design this space together. And that’s exactly what we did! We’ve created a bathroom he can enjoy for decades to come.
The floating vanity top absolutely stole the show (but also the main floor!). The angled sink with its invisible drain is SO chic and looks like something you’d find in a luxury NYC hotel. The sleek, mitered quartzite edging takes it to another level. We added an extra shelf below for towels and additional storage, too.
I wanted to introduce a contrast in texture behind the vanity, so we installed floor-to-ceiling faux wood tile. It adds incredible height and warmth. The wall mounted faucet paired with the duo sconces was the ultimate chefs kiss.
A bathtub was a must, but we desperately wanted to remove the wall between the old vanity and the shower. A custom, tall and narrow swing door was the perfect solution. It doesn’t obstruct bath time and swings open for easy access to all the plumbing. While the shower wall tile stayed monochromatic, the mix of matte and glossy finishes created depth and dimension. The long, custom niche with its marbled backdrop is the perfect statement and doubles as storage for all the toiletries. 😆 Let’s be real…he’s a boy. He doesn’t need much!
A completely new, custom white oak linen tower was another must-have. A drawer for extra toilet paper and toiletries, a pull-out double hamper (which, SHOCKINGLY, is actually being used regularly!!!! 😂), and upper storage for extra linens checked every box on our list.
The greatest luxury isn’t the stone, the tile, or the custom cabinetry. It’s getting to experience joy in the middle of a season that has asked you to be stronger than any kid should ever have to be. This boy deserves ALL the joy. 🤍
