Sometimes first year plants don't bloom, sometimes they bloom normally, and sometimes, as in the case below, they bloom late.

This swamp milkweed plant was visited by several monarchs today in Omaha, Nebraska! It is getting late in the season here, so we are hoping they were just fueling up.

Grasses often don’t get enough love, but how beautiful is this little bluestem’s fall colors?

Monarchs get a lot of attention around here, but did you know that Painted Lady butterflies also migrate?

Pollinators were absolutely loving Wichita Goldenrod this evening.

Please don't mind the car noises in the background. This habitat is in a neighborhood median in Omaha, Nebraska.

Late-season Information Collection

Question: Who in Nebraska is still seeing outdoor monarch egg/caterpillar activity? Could you respond with city/town and number you are still seeing, and size/instar if possible?

If historical data is correct, these caterpillars are unlikely to pupate in time to make the migration, but since weather patterns are changing, we are trying to track if migration possibly is starting to push back later into the season.

Why we do what we do ❤️.

During our 2027 giveaway next year, we will be giving away our **1,000th** microhabitat. Every garden we give away has seasonal bloomers (spring, summer, fall) as well as milkweed and grasses/sedges.

If you have received plants from us in the past, we would love to see garden updates! If you would like to support our mission, please consider donating at https://www.nemonarchs.com/donate.
