Wait… Oklahoma has pelicans?!?

You don’t see a sight like this every day!

I’d been spotting these American white pelicans from a distance for a while, just waiting for an opportunity to get a closer look. When my husband and I took the boat out to our hunting spot, I finally got that chance!

Getting to see them up close and then watching this whole group take flight was quite an experience. What a beautiful sight!

I’d been seeing these pelicans from a distance, but getting the opportunity to photograph them up close was something special.

We were out on the water during a hunting trip, heading to our spot, when I got the chance to capture these beautiful birds. We drove right past them and I watched hundreds of them take off at once!

Sometimes the unexpected moments make the best memories. ❀️

A little time at the creek this morning. We had rain overnight, and the cooler air made it such a nice morning to get outside.

Just enjoying the sounds of nature, taking in the scenery, and keeping my camera close in case someone decides to make an appearance. ❀️

Sometimes a little outing close to home is just what the morning calls for.

Sometimes a picture means more than what's captured in it.

You can be figuring life out, learning to protect your peace, finding joy in the little things, and still have days when you feel beautiful, happy, and good about yourself.

Sometimes the smile in a picture represents a journey nobody else can see. The hard days, the growth, the letting go, and the little steps that brought you back to yourself.

Life isn't always easy, and we don't have to pretend it is. But I hope we never get so caught up in the hard parts that we forget to celebrate the good moments when they come.

Here's to finding ourselves again, enjoying the little things, and allowing ourselves to feel happy right where we are.

We deserve those moments, too.
