🚨DUMPED DOODLE BOY NEEDS A DFW FOSTER & RESCUE BY TOMORROW 10/28🚨

πŸ“Celeste, TX (DFW area)

Someone dumped this sweet boy, & now he’s temporarily staying in a rescue friend’s neighbor’s garage. But his safe haven is running out of time. If nobody steps up by tomorrow, he’ll be taken to Greenville Animal Control Shelter, a high-kill shelter often already struggling with overcrowding. πŸ’”

This handsome black & cream-colored boy is believed to be around a year old. He’s approximately 18 inches tall, weighs around 25–30 pounds, & has been described as incredibly calm, gentle, & sweet. My friend who recently met him says he has a wonderful temperament.

There’s concern that he may have been bred & dumped when he was no longer wanted. Whatever his past looks like, he deserves so much more than being discarded & facing an uncertain future in a crowded shelter.

He needs a committed DFW foster with reputable rescue backing who can give him a safe place to land. Time is extremely limited, & we need to find a solution before tomorrow.

His brown female companion, who was dumped with him, is also looking for help. I’m making a separate post for her, too. They do not need to stay together.

🚨CAN YOU FOSTER, BACK BY YOUR RESCUE, OR HELP SHARE HIS STORY?

Please don’t let this gentle boy pay the price for someone else’s decision to abandon him. He deserves a chance at a life where he’s wanted & safe. ❀️

PLEASE SHARE EVERYWHERE!

πŸ†˜πŸ”₯🚨FINAL -END OF DAY 11/10! RESCUE OR COMMITTED ADOPTER URGENTLY NEEDED!πŸ’”πŸ™πŸ»

My name is Lucy Bell. I am a 12 year old spayed female. I was found at N First St / Oakcrest Estates. I have been at the San Jose Animal Care Center since 10/18.

🐾Lucy Bell is a nice senior cat who urgently needs a rescue or adopter who can support her ongoing medical needs. She is bright, alert, responsive, and eating wet food. She likely has stage 3 chronic kidney disease. Her kidney values have improved with treatment but remain elevated, and she has persistent, though improving, anemia. Her current treatment includes a kidney diet, fluids under the skin, and eye ointment. Expected ongoing care includes repeat bloodwork to monitor kidney values, electrolytes, and anemia; urinalysis; blood pressure monitoring and regular weight, appetite, and hydration checks.

She also has inward-turning eyelids with eye irritation and significant disease affecting her few remaining teeth, which need veterinary follow-up. Her fluid schedule and any additional medications will need to be adjusted by her veterinarian based on reassessment.

This nice senior deserves a comfortable place to receive the care she needs. A rescue or medically
prepared adopter is needed by November 10.

Please let us know if you can help!

KNOWN HISTORY: Wander was brought in with limited information on his behavior history in a home environment.

Wander lived with 30+ other cats in his previous home.

ENRICHMENT NOTES: 9/17/26
Wander was sleeping under his Flip Bed upon approach. A peacock feather was inserted under the castle door, and he watched it move slowly before leaning forward to sniff it. After examining the feather, he repositioned himself into a loaf position in front of it. Wander then batted at it playfully. He continued playing while the main castle door was opened. He then engaged interactively as the feather was slowly twisted and moved beneath the Flip Bed. Wander looked at the open castle door, retreated into his enclosure, and continued playing independently with the feather. He looked up and licked his lips when people entered the room. I paused the interaction. He later came out of his enclosure while I visited other cats. From inside the enclosure, he watched a laser light move around the kennel. Wander came forward for Fancy Feast Flaked Fish added to his dinner tray. He recoiled slightly when an attempt was made to pet his forehead while he was eating. He allowed light contact on his head and shoulders with the peacock feather. A scratcher was then introduced with the feather positioned on top of it. While eating an entire plate of food and then Purina ONE dry food, Wander allowed extended, light scratching on the back of his neck with the scratcher. He subsequently returned to the enclosure beneath his Flip Bed. A hanging feather toy, sparkly pom-pom, peacock feather, and dry treats were left within his reach.

9/22/26
Curled up in his makeshift bed when I approached kennel. The whiteboard showed that he had diarrhea and vomited earlier in the day. I noticed his eyes were watery and he was sneezing which I added to the white board. Because of him feeling under the weather, he didn’t respond to any attempts at socialization.

9/25/26
Curled in box under bed, eyes 1/2 open. Put in treat bowl, no reaction. Approached with hard treats on scratcher tool, he sniffed and pulled back, tail tightened. Dropped treats and slowly approached with tool. Wander allowed head scratches, blinking when stopped. Gave plenty of scratches and ended interaction.

9/27/26
Reported to be consistently urinating outside of the litterbox and in various places in his kennel by ops staff.

10/6
Wander was lying in his box. When handler approached he got up and hid inside his box in a crouched position. The handler went to grab his food tray and Wander hissed. Churu was put in his food tray and he slowly came out to eat his treat. Handler used a scratcher tool to pet his head and Wander tolerated it. Sweet talk was given and Wander replied with a couple slow blinks. The handler went to grab the tray again and Wander hissed. Ended the session with more churu in his tray.

10/14/26
Wander was in his den when approached. He immediately started to growl and look to avoid interaction. He tolerated the tool stroking the top of his head but stayed tense and squirmed the entire socialization.

EVALUATION:
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Subdued

VOCAL: Quiet

CHARACTER TYPE: Bold
Timid
Independent

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: New home adjustment period
Fearful
Adult cat socialization
Other
Potential challenges comments: Wander has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and has displayed distance-increasing behavior with extended handling. Fear aggression can occur when a cat perceives a threat and may escalate if they cannot escape. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.

Wander had previously been observed to urinate outside of the litterbox and in various areas of the kennel at the beginning of his stay at the care center. After a two-week observation period he was observed to use the litterbox appropriately consistently.

There were two scratch incidents that occurred in shelter. A member of the public was greeting Wander during an adoption interaction. Wander was under his flip bed and hissed as she opened the kennel. She began to toss dry treats towards the opening of the flip bed and he swatted out, scratching her right hand and breaking skin. The wound was a small, superficial scratch on the back of her right hand. The wound was self-treated.

The same day, a staff member was attempting to get Wander into a den. It was reported that when she attempted to gently coax him into the den, Wander ran to the elevated shelf in the kennel, beginning to hiss, spit, and swat towards her. She attempted to guide him down from the shelf using an unfolded cardboard litterbox and a towel. He swatted out and managed to scratch her right ring finger, leaving a small, superficial scratch and drawing blood. He then went back to the top shelf and she was eventually able to get him into a den to move to the holding room. Staff member self-treated the wound.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Level 3

RECOMMENDATIONS: Adult only home
Other
Recommendations comments: Due to behavior observed in the care center, adult only home.

Wander may benefit from being in a home with another, friendly, and appropriately socialized cat from whom he can learn behaviors and have interactions with humans modeled by, to help him gain confidence and comfort in a new environment

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: 9/15/26
Wander is laying under his flipbed, observing the assessor with wide eyes and a tense body as they approach. When the kennel door is opened and he is spoken to softly, he hisses and remains tense. He is offered a squeeze up on the click stick and after a few moments begins to eat it, eating all of it. He is tolerant of brief petting on the head with the click stick but turns, hisses, and bites the click stick after a few passes. Pickup is not attempted due to observed behavior.

10/20/26
Wander is inside of his den with forward ears and moderately dilated eyes. He hisses softly when the den cover is lifted. The assessor extends a scratcher tool towards him and he sniffs it. He eats offered squeeze up and while eating allows gentle petting on his cheeks and along his body. When finished with the squeeze up, he pulls back and squints at the handler. The assessor pushes another tray of squeeze up towards him and he continues eating. He hisses softly once more when the den cover is placed back on but there is no other escalation.

Wander is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is apprehensive of people and appears wary of human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

Adoption Summary: What my friends at ACC say about me:
* I am bonded to Roam 265074. We must go home together and our adoption fee includes both of us!

Hi, my name is Wander and the shelter has been a little overwhelming for me. I came from a home with many cats, who I've gotten along with well. Because I've lived in this home my entire life and have only been around one person, I have little experience with people and am hesitant of new experiences. I would enjoy living in a quiet home, preferably one with lots of vertical space so I have a place to perch and observe the room. I would also appreciate having experienced, patient adopter(s) who are willing to take things slow with me. I would benefit from socialization, using rewards whenever I make a small positive step like making eye contact, allowing petting, or sniffing your hand. I'd prefer to take things at my own pace, and would appreciate some good old fashion TLC. Some things I do enjoy here are squeeze up treats. If you can open your heart to adopt a cat like me, I'll hopefully have the confidence to come around to my new people, like you!
