For a long time, I paid way too much attention to what other companies were doing. Who they were hiring, what ads they were running, how they were growing. All of it.
While I do think it's important to understand your competition, I learned that spending too much time worrying about everyone else was taking away from what actually mattered.
The minute I started blocking out the noise and putting that energy back into our own business, things really started taking off.
I became more focused on our people, building our brand, improving our systems, and taking care of our customers. Instead of worrying about what everyone else was doing, we focused on what we could do better.
Time is one of the most valuable things we have as business owners, and I realized how much of it I was wasting paying attention to things I couldn't control.
If you're a contractor watching everyone else and feeling the pressure, I get it. I was there too.
