Here's a little behind-the-scenes confession: almost every Prairie & Flame product starts with someone else's formula.
I buy formulas from well-known, respected formulators, and some generously share theirs for free. The first time, I make it exactly as written. And for the most part? They're good. Really good.
But good isn't what I'm after. I want best.
So that's where the real work starts. I swap ingredients, adjust percentages, test a batch, live with it, change one thing, and test again. Sometimes it takes a handful of rounds. Sometimes it takes dozens. A lot of "good" batches never make it to you, because good isn't the finish line.
By the time something earns a spot on my shelf, it's been reworked until I can't find anything left to improve. Made by hand, in small batches, on our solar-powered farm in Milo.
Giving up the good is the easy part. Chasing the great is the fun part. 🌾🔥

Our Jonny was limping for a few days.. brought him to ISU to get checked out. Took x rays and saw he twisted his tendons somehow. Got a cast, meds, and a new hairdo!

🎃 Meet Lumora — our Pumpkin Enzyme Gel Mask 🎃
Fall on the farm means pumpkins everywhere, so we put them to work for your skin. 🧡
Lumora is a cool, silky gel mask powered by pumpkin ferment, a gentle enzyme that helps loosen dull surface buildup without scrubbing. Niacinamide helps even out the look of your tone, and rose hydrosol soothes and refreshes. The result is smoother, brighter-looking skin in just 10–15 minutes.
Vegan and handcrafted in small batches on our solar-powered farm in Milo, Iowa. 🌞
