Our clients had a vintage dining table they loved too much to replace, so we gave it a few new details instead. We added reeded wood trim and refinished the whole piece so it sits comfortably in the new room. Everything else in the dining room stays neutral on purpose. This room is open to the foyer, the living room, the hall, and the kitchen, so it’s visible from almost everywhere on the main level, and a room with that much exposure does best when it lets the architecture do the talking. Is there a piece in your home you’d never part with? We like designing around those.
