Did you know that birdseed, like any food, has an expiration date? Be certain to check the date on your birdseed and get fresh seed if yours is out of date. If you hit a great sale and brought too much, just freeze it! Also, clean your feeder of old and moldy seed before refilling.

Caryopteris, or bluebeard, is an easy to grow, late summer flowering shrub. The silver leaves contribute to its drought tolerance, it's not fussy for rich soil, and it blooms profusely in the most amazing shade of blue. Bees love it too. Stop in and we'll introduce you.

Do not cut the foliage off of summer flowering bulbs and tubers, rather leave it to mature and turn yellow and then brown naturally before removing. This allows the plant to produce food for flower production next year. Plant late flowering perennials nearby to disguise unattractive foliage.
