Your well pump is only one part of the system.

Pressure behavior, controls, electrical components, tanks, switches, and visible plumbing can all affect how the system performs.

If you notice unusual cycling, pressure changes, leaks, or other changes in normal operation, it may be worth having the system checked before winter.

Fall is a good time to give your well system a quick check before colder weather arrives.

Look for:

✔ Exposed pipes and components
✔ Visible leaks
✔ Changes in water pressure
✔ Unusual pump operation
✔ Areas that may need freeze protection

Seeing something that doesn’t look right doesn’t automatically mean you have a major well problem—but it may be worth checking before winter.

Cooler weather is on the way, making this a good time to check how your private well system is doing after summer.

Look for leaks, pay attention to changes in pressure, inspect exposed system components, and address problems that never fully went away during the hotter months.

You don’t have to wait until the water stops completely before having something checked.

A completed residential water well system in Gonzales County, TX, planned around both current and possible future household water needs.

The property currently includes a three-room home with 1½ baths, a kitchen, and laundry area. The owner is also considering a future second home with two baths, a kitchen, and laundry, so that possible expansion was part of the overall water-use discussion.

Planning a residential well is not only about what is on the property today. Expected future use can also be important when deciding how the water system should be approached.

Summer can put more demand on a private well, especially when homes, irrigation, animals, or outdoor watering are using more water.

Now that the season is changing, think back: did the pressure change, did the pump seem to run differently, or did the system struggle to keep up?

A change does not automatically mean the well is failing, but it can be a useful sign that something deserves a closer look.

📞 If your well system behaved differently this summer, Texas Southern Drilling can help identify what needs attention.

An older well that is losing performance does not automatically need to be replaced.

Sometimes the problem is a repairable system component. In other cases, the existing well may be a candidate for rehabilitation. And sometimes replacement is the more practical option.

The right decision depends on why the performance changed, not simply how old the well is.

Before making the biggest investment, identify the problem first.
