Some chapters deserve to be celebrated.

After 27 years of pilotage with the Galveston-Texas City Pilots, Jon is stepping into a well-earned new season.

His career has always been rooted in family, tradition, hard work, and a deep connection to the maritime world. From those early beginnings to nearly three decades on the water, itโ€™s a story built on commitment, experience, and carrying forward a legacy.

So many of our clients, colleagues, and friends have come to know and love Jon over the years, so it felt only right to give a little nod to this milestone.
Hereโ€™s to 27 incredible years and to whatever this next chapter brings.

Fireplace seasonโ€ฆ even in Houston. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As an interior designer in Texas, Iโ€™ll be the first to admit, we donโ€™t exactly need fireplaces here. But most of my clients still want them, and I completely understand why.

A fireplace is such an important architectural feature in a room, and I love finding ways to make it feel intentional to the overall design.
For this sitting area, we kept things casual with stone-look tile laid in a clean horizontal pattern, then added a little more personality with blue-green bookcases, a coordinating sectional, colorful art, and accessories.

Proof that a fireplace can still be a major design moment, even if you only use it a few times a year. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The '90s called. This time we're picking up.

Not everything from that decade deserves a second life, but a few things really do.
Warm woods? Yes. After years of black, white and gray, natural oak and lighter wood tones bring back the warmth and coziness we were missingโ€”just without the glossy golden finishes.

Softer seating? Also yes. Give me a comfortable sofa with a little more cushion and padding any day. The trick is keeping the lines clean so it feels cozy, not overly fussy.

And wallpaper? Iโ€™ve always loved it, but todayโ€™s options are even better.
Which โ€™90s design trend would you happily bring back?

Fall decorating doesnโ€™t have to mean pumpkins everywhere. ๐Ÿ‚

For me, making a home feel warmer for the season is really about layersโ€”richer colors, softer textures, comfortable seating and lighting that makes you want to settle in.

Think velvet, tweed and textured fabrics, a few extra pillows, warm wood tones, layered rugs and cozy little places to sit. Even small swaps can completely change how a room feels.

This room is a perfect example: bold color, plenty of texture and seating that invites you to stay awhile.

Mid-century modern design is timeless for a reason, but getting the look doesnโ€™t mean turning your home into a 1950s time capsule.
We love mixing clean lines, warm woods, sculptural lighting, rich color, and a few iconic pieces with what you already own. The goal is a home that feels collected, personal, and current, not overly themed.

As summer winds down, a few simple updates can make your bedroom feel instantly cozier for the season ahead.

Layer a throw over your regular bedding for added warmth on cooler nights, and donโ€™t underestimate the power of lighting. Dimmers on overhead lights or bedside lamps can create a softer, warmer glow that completely changes the feel of the room.
Small seasonal shifts can make a big difference. ๐Ÿ‚

Countertops are about so much more than choosing the right stone. The edge profile can completely change the look and feel of a kitchen or bath.

From clean, simple edges to more detailed and traditional profiles, every choice plays a role in the overall design. We often have samples made so clients can see exactly how different options will look before making the final decision.
Itโ€™s one of those small details that can make a big impact on a beautifully finished space.

A beautiful room is more than a collection of pretty things. Itโ€™s about how proportion, balance, rhythm, contrast, focus, and harmony work together to make a space feel intentional.
When those principles are working together, a room feels easier to move through, more comfortable to live in, and naturally cohesive, even if you canโ€™t quite explain why.
Thatโ€™s the art and science of good interior design.

I love slow travel and settling into the rhythm of a place. After two weeks on the Amalfi Coast, I think I finally started blending inโ€ฆ quite literally! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ˜‚

A little la dolce vita from Positano, Capri, Ischia and Procida.

Every great design starts with a vision and right now, this luxury high-rise is the perfect blank slate. โœจ

We've completed the whole-home paint, selected statement wallpaper, added custom storage, and have automated shades, custom drapery, and beautiful lighting on the way.

Now comes one of my favorite parts... the furniture. Watching a space come to life layer by layer is always the most rewarding part of the process.

I can't wait to share the finished reveal with you. Stay tuned! ๐Ÿ™๏ธ๐Ÿค
