As natural fall decorations begin to wither and decay, we're excited to share that Greensboro residents can now place 🎃pumpkins🎃and gourds in their gray yard waste cart for composting.
Pumpkins are considered a yard waste item. No other food items may be placed in yard waste carts.
Pumpkins can be decaying, but should not be painted or have any other decorations on them. If you have questions if your pumpkin can be composted or not, roll your pumpkin into our DMs with a picture, or email us at [email protected].
You can also use the What Goes Where tool in the GSO Collects app to search virtually any item and find out if it's compostable, recyclable, or should be disposed of in another way.
