Clock & Corbel
October 2026 Newsletter

Fall is here, the kids are back in school, and yet, we still have wonderfully sunny and warm days. Autumn is such a special time of year with fall harvest, apples, pumpkins, deep red and orange trees, and those special evenings when we can still sit on the porch and enjoy the outside. As much as we love our favorite seasons, having them change on a regular basis is special.

Clock & Corbel is stocking up with new inventory for fall. We're excited for you to see what we've curated for you and your home.

Autumn Hoop Wreath Class
Autumn is here and what better way to decorate than with dried flowers from the summer garden! We are collaborating again with Allison Acres Farm (http://www.allisonacresfarm.com/) to offer this Autumn Hoop Wreath class this coming Tuesday, October 13. Jamie will bring her lovely flowers and give instruction. You will create your own wood hoop wreath with an array of beautiful dried flowers. We hope you join us!

Tuesday, October 13, 6:30pm. Snag your Tickets now.

New Fall Inventory
We are working hard to curate new items that will bring goodness truth and beauty to your home. Come in and see the new inventory. New to the shop are corbels, brie cheese bowls, blankets, wall-hanging baskets, trivets, salad servers, cookbooks, and bookends. Stop by the shop and see what's new. We've also put more items out on our clearance table.

Ends Meet Pottery
Baby is due in early December, so Brooke is working hard to make new inventory. Once she goes on maternity leave, supplies will be limited. Stop by early and often to see what's hot!

Why yes, that Scotsman Company
As seen on Home Town on the HGTV channel, Ben and Erin Napier's Scotsman Company's cutting boards, rolling pins, and wood oil are in stock. These aren't your average cutting boards. They are beautifully crafted, thick, and solid. We have round, rectangular, and with a handle. Some of the round boards are three inches thick. They are versatile and beautiful, and great for charcuterie, in case you don't want to actually cut on them!

Recipe of the Month:
Chili
After my kids finished high school, I began helping a local micro-college with events. Somehow I got tasked with making student lunches every week. Chili was a simple meal I could prepare in big volumes that also tasted great and warmed the students' bellies and hearts. This is that recipe. I know everyone has their own famous chili, but try this one and see if you don't have happy friends and family. It is easy, customizable, and scaleable for larger groups. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 28 ounce can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cayenne
1 15 ounce can pinto beans
1 15 ounce can kidney beans

Directions:
1. In a large dutch oven or pot, brown the ground beef, breaking it up into smaller pieces. Add the garlic, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and cayenne and cook until fragrant.
2. Add tomato sauce. Stirring well, bring to a boil, and reduce to a gentle simmer for an hour. Feel free to add ½ cup water if the mixture gets too dry. Taste the sauce and adjust for salt. Add salt until it zings.
3. After the meat sauce has simmered and the flavors are melded and it tastes great to you, drain and rinse the beans and add to chili. Bring back to a simmer. Taste again and adjust for salt.
4. Serve in bowls with shredded cheese, sour cream, tortilla strips, and any other chili additions that you love.

This makes a thick chili. Over time I've increased the amount of tomato sauce (as shown above). I’m usually in a hurry so I do not let this simmer for one hour before adding the beans. I let the tomatoes cook with the meat for about 10 minutes, then add the beans and let it all simmer together before serving.

As of today, we have 47 days until Thanksgiving! It's time to think about how you'll decorate your home to bring goodness, truth, and beauty into the lives of your family and friends. Would place settings, artwork, or a new rug fit into your home decor? Please come and see the new items we are stocking for the fall.

Blessings,

Wendy

I love corbels, of course you can tell by our shop name! These beauties came in yesterday and can sit on as half or hung on the wall. (I’ll try not to take them all home! Ha!)

Also, we had another great class last night! Thank you ladies and Jamie Andrews
