A dramatic bathroom transformation doesn't always mean starting from scratch.

For this Denver bathroom remodel, we retained the existing layout while reimagining nearly every finish and detail.

A dated tub deck gave way to a freestanding soaking tub. Blue-and-white patterned tile brought personality to the space. The existing vanity received a fresh painted finish, while updated mirrors and lighting helped complete the transformation.

And a playful touch of pink adds an unexpected finishing detail.

The result? A bathroom that feels brighter, more cohesive, and entirely refreshed.

Sometimes the most interesting design opportunities are found in unexpected places.

For my guest suite at the Denver Life Designer Showhouse, a dormer became an opportunity to incorporate artwork and create a distinctive design moment.

When you visit, don't forget to look up!

Thoughtful interior design is about more than selecting beautiful furnishings. It's about recognizing possibilities within a space and making every detail feel intentional.

A better bathroom doesn't always require more space.

Earlier this week, I shared the kitchen transformation from this Denver home. The primary bathroom was also renovated, with several changes that improved how the existing space works.

Removing the built-in tub deck and positioning a new freestanding tub at an angle in the corner allowed us to enlarge the shower.

At the vanity, decorative mirrors replaced the original large mirror, while eye-level sconces replaced the overhead lighting. This provides more even illumination across the face, reducing shadows when shaving or applying makeup.

We also retained and painted the existing vanity rather than replacing cabinetry that was still suitable for the space.

These changes demonstrate how reconsidering the arrangement of fixtures, improving lighting, and retaining appropriate existing elements can make a meaningful difference.

A new kitchen doesn't always require new cabinets.

In this Denver kitchen renovation, the existing cabinet boxes were in good condition, so replacing them wasn't necessary.

Instead, we installed new full-overlay doors and drawer fronts and painted the cabinetry, creating a substantially different appearance.

We also restained the existing Brazilian cherry floors with a gray cast to minimize their reddish tones. New countertops, backsplash, lighting, hardware, and plumbing fixtures completed the transformation.

The result demonstrates how retaining the right existing elements—and coordinating the changes around them—can create an entirely new look.

A small kitchen can offer more than you might expect.

In this renovation, the homeowners wanted a kitchen that worked better for everyday living—including a place to sit down for a meal.

The existing layout didn't provide one.

Moving the refrigerator from the left side of the basement stairs to the right created room for a dining table and benches. Widening the doorway improved the connection between the kitchen and the rest of the house.

At the same time, the cabinetry, appliances and work surfaces were organized to support cooking and storage.

The result is a kitchen that offers more ways to use the space without increasing its footprint.

Last week, I shared how we made the bathroom in this same home work better. Both renovations demonstrate how reconsidering an existing layout can improve everyday living.

Installation day is more than furniture delivery.

It's when the drawings, furnishings and months of decisions come together in the actual space.

For this Denver high-rise residence, installation involved reviewing plans with the team, confirming furniture placement, checking clearances and making final adjustments to lighting, accessories and furnishings.

Every piece has a purpose, but how those pieces relate to one another is what makes the room work.

These behind-the-scenes photographs offer a look at my role during installation—and the attention to detail that continues until the project is complete.

A well-furnished home doesn't have to start from scratch.

For this home near Salida, we kept pieces that already had value to the clients and combined them with new furnishings, lighting, area rugs and window treatments.

Several family heirlooms were given a new life through upholstery. The wood-back chair in the living room and the chair and ottoman in the library were reupholstered. In the bedroom, we did something less expected: two heirloom rugs became upholstery for a pair of chairs. One was used on the seats and another on the seat backs, with new coordinating fabric on the chair backs and along the lower front and sides.

New pieces were added where they made sense, including the blue living-room chair and the bed.

The goal wasn't to replace everything. It was to recognize what was worth keeping, determine what could be reimagined, and add what the home still needed.

A furniture plan is about more than making everything fit.

In this living room, an existing window nook offered an opportunity to give the room another way to function. A window seat and table created a place for games and other activities, while the main seating area remained comfortable for everyday use.

Even the chairs were selected with flexibility in mind. They’re fully upholstered dining chairs, comfortable enough for the conversation area but easy to move to the table when additional seating is needed.

Planning how a room will actually be used helps determine not only where the furniture belongs, but what furniture makes sense in the first place.

A first look at my space for the Denver Life Magazine Fall Designer Showhouse.

I have Upper Bedroom & Bath One, which I envisioned as a guest suite for visiting grandparents and other guests. I selected everything for the two spaces—from fixtures, finishes and lighting to furnishings, accessories and art—with comfort, function and a cohesive experience in mind.

I'm only sharing a few details for now. The complete space will be open to the public the first weekend of November.

The Showhouse benefits SOS Outreach, a Colorado-founded nonprofit that builds character and develops leadership in young people through outdoor mentoring.

I'll share more details about the Showhouse as we get closer to opening weekend.

In the meantime, you can see more of my residential work at the link in bio.
