Today marks Henry Wulbeck’s last day with Ruetschle Architects, who will be retiring after a rich 48 year career.

Growing up in Beavercreek, Ohio, Henry’s inspiration to work with his hands came from time spent with his father building a small wooden ice boat in their basement. Henry also credits his high school art teacher and drafting teacher for providing guidance and direction into the field of Architecture. After graduating from Beavercreek High School, Henry received his Associates in Architectural Engineering from the ITT Technical Institute in Dayton.

Henry started his career working in Xenia for Architect Fred W. Forbes and Associates in 1972. On April 3rd, 1974 Henry was a survivor of the F5 Xenia tornado as he ducked for cover in the basement of Xenia City Hall. His 19 year career with Mr. Forbes included work on projects including the Moraine Civic Center, Lang Chevrolet, Central State Gym, Green County Mental Health Facility, and surgery suites at Greene Memorial Hospital.

John Ruetschle hired Henry in 1991 where he has spent the last 29 years of his career. Henry became a licensed Architect in 1995 and has served as the Project Architect on the following projects with Ruetschle: Peace Lutheran Church Addition, Nischwitz Baseball Stadium at Wright State University, Spring Valley Academy Addition, Emmanuel Lutheran Church Renovation, Beibel & French LLP Renovation, Crestview Presbyterian Church, Greeneview Primary School Renovation, Fairhaven Church Lobby, Multipurpose Room, Pre School Addition, Chapel and ended his career finishing the Kettering Seventh Day Adventist Church Addition.

While leaving a legacy of beautiful built work around the greater Dayton region, Henry will be truly missed for his Germanic sense of humor, and his ferocious technical expertise and attention to detail. We will truly miss you!

Fulfilling a 15 year dream, Dayton Christian School opened its new 20,000 square foot Warrior Center on the schools first day back for the 2019-2020 school year. The gym has a college-sized basketball court and two side courts, volleyball, bleachers, bathrooms and a Warrior Hall of Fame lobby. In fact leading the design team was like a home coming for Mark Ruetschle, an alumni of Dayton Christian School.
