Looked at 2 Projects last week with Liftmaster slide gate operators. One at a VAMC installed in 2021 and has not worked in 3 years. The other at a DISD school installed this year.

None of the 10 ornamental metal gates have any guarded or screened openings. Liftmaster says "Install the gate operator only when:" I speculate that when someone gets injured or killed the attorneys will stand by that the instructions from the manufacturer were not followed.

We replace a failed retaining wall recently. The existing dry stack stone wall had failed under the immense pressure of the spring rains. We determine the best solution was to put in new concrete wall with a footer. The original ideas was to have several Piers down three feet underneath the bottom beam but we found rock 10" inches below the soil, so we changed and tied the rebar directly into that rock.

The existing wall had a bit of a wave to it and the client wanted it to be a straight run from one set of steps to the other steps. The steps we're also messed up with loose Stones creating a trip hazard. Since we were doing the wall and brush concrete, we capped all of the steps with concrete as well to clean those up.

The new wall was a 10" thick wall, with weep holes and backfilled with gravel for drainage.

In the end we trimmed off the existing artificial turf to form up to the new wall, leaving a clean and complete backyard enviroment.

We just finished up an install of a cantilever gate for the Dallas Arboretum. It is in a brand-new area They will be used for events and so fading into the background of the incredible landscape the deal of the lake beyond is very important. We set extra posts to install a gate operator later. The gate is aluminum internal track cantilever gate with cedar fence installed and a nice Sherwell Williams Super Deck stain to match the client's Specifications. For the time being we have a simple way pin latch the gate closed as needed, It is also easy to put a padlock in that same spot for added security.

This week we are starting a brand new deck build, a new wood porch railing and a screened in porch to give the feel of southern grace. Old concrete walks were removed with tall concrete steps that were hard to navigate. A new Trex deck will be installed with wide stair tread and 5” maximum height. The screened in porch will have 1x4 to match the new porch railing but it will be double sided with a gap and the screen sandwiched between the layers.
