Happy National Dessert Day. We can’t offer you cake, but we can offer something to serve it on.
Blue Fluted was the first pattern Royal Copenhagen ever produced, introduced in 1775, the year the Danish porcelain house was founded. More than two centuries later it’s still in production, still known inside the company as “Service No. 1.”
Full Lace is the most elaborate version of it. Every opening in the pierced lace border is cut by hand, then traced with cobalt blue, and the pattern of palmettes and stylized chrysanthemums is painted freehand, so no two pieces are exactly alike. The design was refined in 1885 under artistic director Arnold Krog and has changed little since.
This is a set of nine Full Lace dessert plates, ready for a second slice.
