Frontiers Design Build:

Frontiers Landscape Architecture Inc: Provides clients with a professional approach -- Integrating strong design into the landscaping process. The design phase is seamlessly integrated with our sound construction services. Landscapes see an immense amount of abuse from mother nature -- it is critical that we determine not only what will look good, but how it will function to withstand the sun, the rain, freeze/thaw, use and abuse, etc. There are many solutions available out there that are just not good enough -- it is our role to bring expertise to the table, to help the home owner find a solution that is economical, durable and aesthetic. Frontiers Custom Renovations & Homes: Attention to detail, Attention to detail, Attention to detail. Every project we set out to complete is unique, and require a custom solution. The design process is a partnership between the home owner, and Frontiers -- the home owner brings the requirements and scope, and Frontiers brings the brush to paint the picture and the expertise to ensure the solution is sound.

Welcome to Waterloo Series | Pt. 9

"Affordable housing often faces local resistance. How did you navigate this, and what are the broader community beneifts?"

👉 That's really rooted in stigma and misunderstanding of what affordable and supportive housing is, and the impacts that it has on communities. We just want to be neighbours like everyone else. So, we ask the neighbours about their experience, what they're hoping for, and we co-design some of the landscaping elements. We think about the size and scope of the project really *fitting* into the neighbourhood. That was really important to both our architecture team, and the Frontiers team.

A great renovation is about more than a beautiful space; it's about making thoughtful decisions, planning for the long term, and having the right team guide you.

This kitchen + bath reno brings together rich natural wood, deep-toned cabinetry, and carefully considered details to create a space that feels both distinctive and functional.

We believe successful renovations start long before construction. Our integrated design-build approach brings planning, building science, craftsmanship, and clear communication together to help homeowners make informed decisions, manage risk and create homes that last.

This , we've been celebrating our design / build approach for resilient home transformations. Thinking about a renovation? Start planning with us.

Welcome home! has officially opened Welcome 2 Waterloo, and we couldn't be more proud to have been a part of it.

Located at 107-109 Waterloo Ave. in Guelph, this built-for-purpose home offers 10 supportive housing units and 3 transitional apartments for youth ages 16 to 25, with 24/7 wraparound care and on-site health services. It's a major step toward Guelph becoming the first mid-sized city in Canada to end youth homelessness.

Over the past 2 year, our team renovated and expanded the original property that was in significant disrepair, making it far more energy efficient, sustainable, and functional, with a barrier-free main floor.

It truly took a community: designed by , built by us, and supported by every level of government and generous donors. Even the details came from the community, with handmade quilts from the Royal City Quilters Guild and rooms decorated by interior design students at Bishop Macdonell.

Thank you, Wyndham House, for trusting us with a space. ♥

This Saturday, October 24, hosts its Once Upon a Time Gala, an evening celebrating our community while raising critical funds so children and youth can participate, learn, and grow.

As the Ambience Sponsor, we're proud to help elevate the guest experience and bring an unforgettable journey under the sea to life. The impact reaches well beyond the night itself, helping local kids and youth access the food, experiences, and support they need to grow, belong, and thrive. ✨

Welcome to Waterloo Series | Pt. 9

"Looking back, what has been your single biggest takeaway or light bulb moment so far?"

👉 The level of responsibility that we all share in building good buildings, particularly in a supportive housing setting. These are community assets, which I think is the right way of looking at it, and we do feel like stewards of this.

A well-planned renovation isn't just about the result. It's about protecting the journey with a "build to last" approach, and by focusing on relationships.

Renovating an existing home is one of the most complex forms of construction. Hidden conditions, aging assemblies, and outdated systems demand a higher level of planning and ex*****on than new construction. At Frontiers, renovations are led with the same rigor, systems, and craftsmanship as our custom homes.

We act as your expert guide. By viewing the home as a system, we can integrate a high-performance framework and long-term resilience standards by:

▪ Addressing critical resilience and performance measures first.
▪ Sequencing work so that a kitchen renovation today doesn't block future high-performance upgrades, like advanced ventilation or low-energy systems.
▪ Helping you invest wisely. Resolution of 90-95% of decisions before construction begins reduces surprises and protects your budget. Believe it or not, many renovations start without interior design drawings and selection schedules; which is a primary reason for budget overruns and schedule delays.

Let us help you with your next renovation, so you can trust that its transformation will be resilient. 👊

Sick of his mug, yet? Doug will be speaking at the on Thursday, November 12 on "AI in Practice: What's Working, What's Failing, and What You Need to Know."

AI adoption is moving fast across architecture, design, and manufacturing - but simply using the technology doesn’t always mean it’s delivering real value. Firms are testing new tools, experimenting with workflows, and figuring out where AI can genuinely save time or unlock creative capacity. But between quality concerns, team adoption, client expectations, and the pressure to keep up, the gap between trying AI and making it work in practice is still significant.

This session takes a look at what’s actually happening inside firms right now. What tools are proving useful? Where is AI falling short? And how are design professionals deciding what’s worth investing in - and what isn’t? From internal workflows and creative processes to ethics and quality control, industry leaders will share what they’re learning as they navigate AI in real time.

Looking forward to the conversation and to be a part of the conference. See you there!

Last Friday, students from volunteered to put together, and decorate, the rooms at Welcome 2 Waterloo ().

It's been a busy few weeks on site as we near the finish line. Our team and trade partners have been working hard to bring everything together (flooring, baseboards, window casings, mechanical systems, door hardware, security and the porch!).

We'll continue to keep you updated as we see this to close!
