While the leaves are turning outside, the build is moving forward. Concrete floor poured, in-floor heating done, and framing has officially begun.

Roughly the size of a cottage, sitting right in the middle of a beautiful lot, this garage is going to be something when it is finished.

Good things are coming from Kilworthy.

Knowing what you want to build can change how you look at a property. Sometimes, the right lot is the one you might have overlooked.

We’ve helped clients connect with the right real estate agents and walked shortlisted properties together before a single drawing existed.

Thinking about building a cottage? Let’s start the conversation early.

Most clients come in knowing roughly which direction they are leaning. Some come in completely torn. Either way, the conversation always ends up in the same place, what do you want to feel when you walk through the door?

Modern and traditional are not opposing philosophies. They are just different answers to the same question.

Which one feels more like you? Drop it in the comments.

Muskoka is genuinely difficult to explain until you have been.

The lakes are extraordinary. The seasons all bring something worth showing up for. The summers are full and the winter months have their own kind of magic.

We are probably biased but we have been building cottages here for three generations and the views still make us stop and stare.

At Kilworthy, we’re putting the details in now that will make this space comfortable and useful all year long. In-floor heat helps keep the floor of a garage nice and dry, even in wet snowy weather, and for the living quarters upstairs, it helps keep things toasty even when it’s freezing.

Often the things you can’t see are what make the biggest difference in comfort.

Built right from the ground up, so it’s ready for what comes next.

Before the first wall goes up, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

For our Orillia project, we’re working through permits, surveys, test holes and site planning to make sure every part of the build is right for the property.

It may look like nothing is happening yet, but this is where a lasting cottage begins.

Because when you’re building a place for generations to come, doing it right from day one matters.

Every cottage site comes with its own set of challenges. Tight access, tricky terrain, and details that need to be figured out before the next step can begin.

With three generations of building experience, we’ve learned that good building is about knowing how to adapt without compromising the finished product.

Another step done at Lake Simcoe.

May this kind of life find you. And when it does, we hope it finds you here 🌿

Building a custom cottage is exciting. Knowing what comes next makes it even better.

One of the biggest concerns homeowners have is not the construction itself - it’s the uncertainty. What happens after signing? When do decisions need to be made? How involved will I be throughout the process?

A well-planned build should never leave you guessing. From selections and approvals to site progress and final walkthroughs, every stage should feel collaborative and organized.

Because building your cottage should feel just as enjoyable as living in it.

Save this post if you’re planning to build in the next few years.

The list of things you think you need gets a lot shorter up here.

Book the weeks, enjoy the cottage and stop waiting for the right time because this is what the right time looks like.
